Charles N. Pendleton, who was formerly engaged in the book and stationary trade in this city, died in a physician's office in New York City, December 2, aged about 50 years.  His remains were removed to his former home at Racine, Wis., and interred there December 5.

Charley Pendleton, as he was called by his friends, was a son of a wealthy lumber dealer who resided at Racine, Wis., and died about 30 years ago leaving a large estate to his wife, three sons and a daughter.  The children were highly educated and Charley was educated with a view to becoming a college professor.

When he engaged in business in this city he was a prince of good fellows but extravagant habits carried him to such excesses that he went into bankruptcy.  He had a predilection for the stage and entered the theatrical profession with but indifferent success.

He visited here during the fall of 1892 somewhat "shabby, but genteel" and was again here for a few days after the death of his mother about a year ago.

Charley Pendleton was an amiable, good fellow and had no enemy except himself.  His faults perish with him, and old friends in Mansfield will remember him kindly.

His brothers, sister and mother preceded him and by his death the family becomes extinct.
